I am thrilled to be taking the Craft in America art institute at Kutztown with Dr. Marilyn Stewart. I will be participating in two workshops during the week. l will be working with textile designers Randall Darwall and Brian Murphy. I will be engaged in an intense focus on creating depth in textiles using surface design techniques, and guided through an examination of the visceral use of space, historic resonance, and atmospheric color layering of ideas and processes. Week 2 (goals from schedule): * Research show booklet designs, visiting other historical sites that show work of this type (Schwenkfelder, etc.) as well as art galleries. Week 2 (accomplished): •I visited my friends at the heritage center and picked up their show book that accompanied a pow wow show that I visited this past Spring. I like the size and layout of this book and the mood of it's typography and imagery. I think that it's a great direction for my book.
Week 1 (goals from schedule): • InDesign tutorial and exercise files/test. • Research more about characters: Verna, Olive, Diane, Rachel, Mya and Henrietta gathering photos, letters, and thoughtfully outlining what the messages that each character will say. • Set up a mood board on Pinterest with Karen to share inspirations including color schemes and experimental sizes. • Consider target audience when making key design decisions for the booklet.
